"give a robber what he want and they're leave you alone"

Glad he left alive. If he produced a weapon he might not be alive today.

And I question why he didn't check before he opened the door.

Is there a reason for posting this?

Does there need to be one?

Does someone need to get your approval before posting something?

Does the world revolve around you?

(just a fyi - I am posting this sentence for absolutely no reason at all)

Steinhauer

Maybe because they said they were the FBI with a warrant? That could be intimidating.

gotta look thru a peephole
That's a good idea, yes. Sometimes that's not enough for getting the whole picture of what's happening outside though.

After having read so many posts about over-ambitious SWAT team busts (especially at the wrong addresses), and how even innocent residents are roughly treated, I can understand how someone might be overly compliant when expecting an aggressive breaking down of the door by armed law enforcement.

However, we have to be careful not to fall into the "blame the victim" trap.

I'm just curious how would you guys defend yourself in this case?

Bringing a gun to the door when the cops are at the door isn't exactly bright either. So I'm trying to see this through.

No you don't need my permission but I found no reason to post something like that, it was only done imo to get the discussion going on guns and personal safety going again and the moderator has already put an end to that one. You must scare the crap out of those that come to your door when you answer it with your gun.

If you paid attention to the news, crooks have been using that (FBI) for several years to gain entrance to the house. If it's late night and you have done nothing wrong, just put a chair under the knob, don't answer the door and go back to bed because it's not the FBI! They hardly ever go after someone late at night and prefer early morning raids because the people they are looking for are usually asleep and are less apt to cause problems.

good to know what going on in world, endorce people getting peep hole..every little bit news on safety has to be good

I get where you coming from. They are still alive aren't they? So they came out of it ok.

a huge contradiction to your claim. they were hurt. and no he did not come out of it ok. he could have been killed. he got lucky because he said he called 911 and I guess the robbers didn't want to take chance so they ran away.

Yes, I pay attention to the news. I also see in the news that real law enforcement units DO make mistakes and sometimes violently burst into the wrong residences. It CAN happen.

Can you guarantee that? Of course, not.

According to seb, it won't be the police at the door.
