This is a general question. If something were to happen to you, would there be someone here that you could trust to NOT spill the beans? There not need be any names or user names; just a simple answer will do.

I'd imagine the moderator would be a trustworthy person.

Let me clear that up a little bit. I mean stuff that you wouldn't dare tell anyone-- not even your best friends, and only those that you KNOW can keep personal, private secrets that way. That means you trust that person to never tell a soul, even your friends. Stuff like that.

I would not even tell my daughter anything private on an email , she could accidently send it to someone else . My answer is a big fat NO !

Maybe it's not e-mail. Maybe it's someone here who you might have come to trust, and PM a lot or something, and maybe that person decides to confide in you. Who knows? It's not necessarily e-mail; it can be internal.

that's the beauty of trusting a stranger :)

Yes, but that person has to NEVER tell anyone, and in today's world, there's not many of those people anymore.

I had a friend that knew me before I was born and our friendship just ended after 67 years . The only person I could trust 100% was my mother and my daughter and of course my dog. My friend asked my mother why her belly was so big, we knew one another all our life. I personally do not think it a wise thing to tell someone on line anything very personal , what if the two people get mad at one another they could broadcast that personal info all
over the internet. You have to use your best judgment and decide how you would feel if whatever you said got out to other people. Do you go to church at all , if yes you could talk to the priest , pastor or minister or tell your doctor if you trust them.

everyone lies. or everybody always tell somebody and nobody will believe that person anyway.

you need to get out of Chicago more

beside... if it's a secret best not told to anyone.... then why would you tell it anyway?

In most cases that is true, but I'm old-school-- once told a secret, it does not leave me, nor do I ever tell anybody, even if I get mad at the person, and could use that information against the person, but I choose not to-- I prefer to guard their secrets as long as I am alive.

Because I know how to keep my mouth shut. I'm quite good at that. I'm old-fashioned, and once someone tells me something private, it does not leave me ever.

Crap... butterfingers erased my reply.

You pretty much answered your own question with this:

The fact that you say you are good at keeping a secret etc...well the fact that you are asking here what others would do or who to trust with said secret tells me already that you are not THAT good. Nobody is.

The very definition of a secret is one that never sees the light of day even in a very roundabout way like posting on the internet and asking people a question like this one. With this post people now know you HAVE a secret.

Off hand I can think of one 'secret' that stayed that way until the person died. Look up Billy Tipton.

whatdidyousay!- wow.. 67 years..I'm sorry to hear that friendship fell apart after that long. I was/am in the same boat but not as many years.

Well, you have no idea what I'm hiding, and I'm not about to reveal said secrets, so good luck finding out just exactly what it is I'm holding inside and never saying what it is.

It depends on what you mean if "something happened" to me. There are a few people here I would trust but I don't feel compelled to share everything that happens to me with AD members.
