:blah: cut n paste mumbo jumbo

My question was not for you, but for the "LEO" who was kind enough to join this discussion.

The Oakland incident is not what we're talking about.

We're talking about this:

UC Davis Protestors Pepper Sprayed - YouTube

What more do you want to know than what is on the video?

Since you're from good ol' Missoura, be aware that in the State of California, using pepper spray is prohibited except in cases of self-defense.

I'd say just leave them there as they are sitting down, locked in arms, on the hard concrete and have the LEOs surround them and stand guard. Don't allow them to leave unless they want to voluntarily leave individually. If they have to crap or pee, too bad. Do it in their pants. Thirsty? *shrugs* Hungry? Sore from sitting on the hard concrete? Hot? Cold? Oh well....

How's that instead of pepper spray?

I think he was clear. The SOP for an internal investigation is to put the cop on admin (paid) leave. Putting them on admin leave does not mean a cop is automatically guilty.

How very Christian and humane of you. Better quit arguing your religious stance in the homosexuality thread and contradicting it in other threads.:cool2:

From the keyboard of a security guard!:laugh2:

But video tape of them in action certainly does spell guilt.

^^That's false imprisonment, smart guy.

If they were breaking any law (debatable), they should have been arrested. They were not being combative or threatening in any way. No need for pepper spray.

Do you condone the use of pepper spray here?

That was never a point of concern for me and something I don't care about. That battle of semantics is between others on this thread. Not me.

I was addressing "airportcop" and his automatic judgment of the occupy protesters. His "well, there must have been something that happened, even if we can't see it" approach begs the question. It's the ol' cops uphold the law and protect it, so therefore they cannot break the law or be in the wrong! mentality, which you and others here also hold. I can understand why he feels that way, since he is part of the broken system, but you and others are just disgusting in your support of this sort of abuse of power.

While the reports have had the people of New York on alert, it has been some of the churches in the city to lend its support. One in particular, St. Paul/St. Andrews on the Upper Eastside became a safe haven for some of the protesters. I asked, a young female protester, one of the nonconformist, who slept at the church what her role was in Occupy, she said, "I've been tweeting all night trying to get the word out about the church. They need to know about the places that will allow them to shower and sleep." The next morning two undercover police officers paid the church a visit.

She's just standing there doing nothing, and it looks like she turns around because she wants to walk away from the front of the crowd. So the pig starts pulling on her neck scarf from behind, choking her. Notice the female cop who was standing directly next to her and had no problem with her. WTF?

Let's see Kokofacist and the honorary airportcop try and justify this police brutality.

My reply

Let's try this again. I meant the U.C. Davis incident. Sorry! And no jillio I am not a security guard or a rent a cop. I am a fully certified police officer or peace officer in the state of Missouri with full powers of arrest. I work full time and we have our own police department at the airport like many others in the U.S.. We are the ones that blow up first when terrorists strike here! Some people must navigate life with their eyes closed!

Yes, based on the video it looks as though the cop or cops was way out of line and if that is the case he should be fired, prosecuted and sued. That is why there will be an investigation. Remember, this is the U.S. (innocent until proven guilty)! But, like most videos that the liberal media post we will probably never have the full or true story completely. We don't know what happened before the cameras rolled or what was happening off camera.

Cops are people too! There just happens to be far less of them then most occupations. Yes, there are bad ones and they need to be dealt with. But there are bad doctors, lawyers, teachers, preachers, plumbers, electricians and hair stylists too! I don't think I see too many regular people in the Occupy crowd! Otherwise they would be working!

Give the guys who risk their lives daily to protect your freedoms and rights a break! We are not all bad guys! I don't know about California but in Missouri, if the cops give you a legal order to disperse and you don't you could risk being pepper sprayed or even tasered. That is just how the use of force ladder works. The officer shouldn't have to risk assault to get your cooperation. We all have our opinions and some times we will just have to agree to disagree.

Let the pounding begin! Oh, and thanks for the welcome to your forum!

Once again this video does not show us the totality of the circumstances. It is poor quality, out of focus and the subject of the matter is out of the picture most of the time. We can not see what she is doing or did. This type of justification is insane! If you were not there then don't compare! What has happened to our society? Where do these people think their jobs come from? Yes, some corporations are bad just as some politicians are bad! Deal with the bad apples and reform the system legally and with intelligence. Wake up America!

Let me have it now!

Just protecting the protesters. They can leave at any time, I said. How can it be false imprisonment if they can voluntarily get up and leave at any time?

Better a pepper spray than a live bullet. If done maliciously, no, I don't condone. If done within the guidelines and policy, and acted accordingly so, sure. Just viewing the video does not show everything.

There was no automatic judgement on his part. He said he doesn't have all the details and information behind the moves to make that judgement call. Just by viewing a video doesn't explain everything.
