Should Kids On Airplanes Be Sedated?

What about build Chuck E Cheese style playground in airplane? I know it wouldn't fit but just funny design.

Makes me wonder how much of a hassle airport security would give parents re: toys and things of that nature.....

Yeah...it's the terrorists who took away the flexibity, damn those people.

yes they talk too much and they are never calm sedate them and when you are at the hotel wake them up

I know someone who had six month old twin babies. His wife wanted them to stay nice and quiet on the flight from Europe to Canada. She broke down some sleeping pills into smaller pieces and gave them some. They spent the entire flight throwing up and being very very sick - they had to be taken to a doctor when the plane landed. I was really shocked when I found out.

I'd far rather babies be noisy but healthy than be sedated like that. That's sick.

During the Victorian era - they were fed opium to go to sleep, sometimes booze too.

I don't think so! The children need to stay awaken in case they need to protect themselves from being kidnapped or something bad happening to the planes they are in.

I was thinking what if a kid get motion sickness and start to throw up , if they are knocked out they could choke to death on their vomit ! This is the most dumbest thing I heard of in a long time!!

You all make it sound like kids are not even supervised on a plane. If they are with their parents... and they suffer from anxiety or some other medical reason that they may need to be sedated then I can understand.

I do like the Idea of the braclet. I went to a couple of large events in the Tampa Bay area. Most of them require a form to be filled out.. That form has a code on it.. If the child gets lost or something happens. The security can punch in the code number on the child's bracelet.. and the emergency contact numbers are drawn up for them to contact family members.

As for me.. I have to be sedated to be on a plane.. Dramamine, is also very sedative to prevent motion sickness.

It really depends on the circumstances.

If a child is knocked out and the parents are sleeping too no is watching the child! And a I had surgery and was still knocked out and started to vomit if a nurse was not there I could had choke to death .

Wow @ some of the old members who used to post here...especially Quirkylibra.

That is the most craziest thing I ever read. I must say that I agreed with PowerON's comment about the warm milk. That's easy advise. He made me laugh a little bit. I think that it would be a good start for him in the business at the airport like a waiter. They would say to him that he saves their life for not throwing them out of the airplane or even worse in the air. aww!

Some restaurants have adopted the idea of no kids allowed. Perhaps the Airport can assign that to certain flights for those who rather to have a nice quiet kid free flights.

I say sedate the old fogies who are complaining about the kids. Why am I reminded of the two old guys from the Muppets?:giggle:

6 month old twins on an 18-24 hour flight from Europe to Canada? That's just insane. Giving them sleeping pills meant for ADULTS was just flipping stupid. The parents should have been immediately arrested for child abuse upon landing.

I've never been on an airplane, so I have no idea of what it's like, but my thinking is make sure your children are old enough to be able handle being confined for a prolonged period of time. If not, you may be better off driving.

We are unable to take and airplane due to daughter's issues and the air pressure and my legs. That's why, no matter how much I want to see Australia, I will never get to.

Better off driving? Hmm, is there a bridge that I'm not aware of?
