What's the best free antivirus software for Macs?

I use ClamXav on Mac... I don't know if this is the best one. :)

Why hell do you need anti-virus? Mac hardly get virus, unless you're crazy in music.

because I will got new MacBook Pro tomorrow. I need to know what internet security software do Mac user have.

Stop waste on Anti-virus, it's useless and it waste on CPU's power.

I'm tell you... it's USELESS!!!!!! Mac don't need that crap software anymore until Mac is over 50% available in the world then hacker will rape your HDD.

To be frank, you don't really need an anti-virus software. All they do is slow down your computer. That's what all anti-virus softwares on both PC and Mac do, slow down their computers.

The Mac platform has far, far less viruses in comparison to the PC platform. So the odds of getting infected with a virus is pretty slim to none.

Thank you for PowerOn and Banjo. I can't wait to get new MacBook tomorrow.

Wirelessly posted

I don't use antivirus scanning much on mac, but once it did picked up a infected file: trojan, the one for MS window.

I know window microsoft type of trojan won't work on mac as it used exe file.

I can't remember the name of trojan but Ill post back here later, when I'm on mac to look on ClamXav to find the name of this trojan.

What about the Macs that are partitioned to run Windows?

The viruses will affect Windows partition via bootcamp or virtual desktop so nothing is affect Mac.

What about the Macs that are partitioned to run Windows?

Both are different partition. Virus can't jump from partition to other partition.

Anti-viruses for Mac computers, you're must be kidding me. you don't need one at all. Not one single program.

Ok, thanks for that. So the Windows partition on my Mac can get viruses just as much/often as a straight Windows PC, right?

Yes only on the partition where Windows is installed. If you get bad viruses renders Windows unrenderable, you can simply just throw away or format that paritition without affecting the Mac OS X parition.

Virus cannot planted into the Mac and Linux, it's totally different excutable files.. as .SIT and other file formats.

Yea Windows SUCKS, let go for the Mac or Linux :)
