I own now

79 F150 plan sell. I believe it have 135,000 miles

91 Bronco with 5.0L 147,000 miles. Keep that for summer drive.

94 geo tracker 115,000 miles. Plan sell it.

Bought 95 F250 XL 5.8L with 77,000 miles. plow truck. Use that for winter and spring.
 
1993 Explorer - out of service 260K miles

1997 Explorer have 140k miles now.

93 Explorer- out of svs @ 260K miles, is the tranny out of svs? Smoky engine?
I just curious. Is a 260K miles on the original engine? If so I ll be :shock:

Well, not exactly smoky engine, the oil leaking on valve cover gasket caused oil to seep on hot exhaust making awful burn smell. Noisy alternator bearing, and other maintenance work. Engine and tranny still original, never been touched since day one. :) Engine/tranny still operational now as I let it run for few mins once or twice a month. :)

Damn it. I never see any over 250K on the clocks of the Explorers when serviced or smogged them.
Have you drive or heard about the Toyota /Lexus 4.7L V8 (found in pick ups/ SUVs)? I notice the 4.7L engines are more clean and dry, shows no very thin oil leaks even they hit over 220K miles. Every time I inspect the cat converters under the vehicles during the smog inspections, see no oil leaks from under the engine or tranny. I consider the 4.7L V8 engines are the best for low maintenance repairs. The starter is locating in the valley of the 4.7L block that never been replace since first new vehicle. The starter's life can be last over 200K or 300K? Wtf. I know one Lexus SUV w/ a 4.7L and AWD, have a poor gas mileage than my wife's 2000 Ford Explorer w/ a 5.0L V8.....though.:cool2:

2004 Lexus GX 470, similar to Landcruise, is gas thirsty much as 11.8 mpg in city driving than Explorer w/a 5.0L cuz of heavy GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rate) is 6150 lbs compare to a Ford Explorer's GVWR 5750lbs. But heavy Lexus SUV means good ride quaility. Worst heavy SUV with a dwarf motor is a 2004 VW Touareg w/a 3.2L V6, AWD, weighted 6493 lbs, rate 14 mpg in city/18mpg highway. Sounds very bad gas mileage. Same as MBZ ML 320 or BMW X5 SUVs (they built in USA). Who love Euro SUVs? Me? F--K Euro SUVs. I kiss domestic SUVs:wave:

If you are a taxi driver, driving in a Lexus GX 470 in density downtown, that would get 11.8 mpg. No kidding. The 14/17mpg for Lexus GX 470 is aveage choice by the EPA.

but back in 1900's, a young Robert Bosch came to Amercia for work. He studies trades as he learned alot of things then went back to his homeland. That was how he developed the things of the automobiles.

Did I mention " Invented" in sentence? First 4WD vehicle in USA. I dont know who invented the first 4WD vehicle till you posted. Dutch brothers invented the 4WD vehicle. Interestly

VW is not only one. I did head gasket jobs on BMW/MBZ and Landrover SUV. I saw oil leaks under the 2006 BMW 330I, suspected timing tensioner's O seal or gasket something, advised a customer to take it to the dealer for warranty or something. I saw an odometer in the dash, was about 36K miles on it. Too many Euro vehicles in a town. Hey, you Come to Southern Calif,. see the Euro cars yourself. You see why the Euro cars are asking for repair jobs everyday. I love them for easy money. Hope you land a new mechanic job there. :cool2:
 
Just bought 95 F250 XL HD with flatbed. Plow.

new engine 13,000 miles old.

It have 77,300 miles now but you need understand that plow snow are hard on engine. Here example you drive really fast and brake hard in city you could notice it start tired when it get old? That reason #2 owner replaced 351W because didn't change oil often plus it sit for long times.

Low mileage on this truck, #2 owner didnt took a care of a 351W. What a shame.
 
i always wanted to be mechanic for a company (Big O Tires, Midas, others..)..but i do it on my truck, suv, motorcycle often anyway :]

Most of time, i get paid from friends who need their vehicles to repair. (most common that they always ask me to do stupid repair like: install spark plugs)
 
My car has over 99,100 miles on it...approaching 100k miles, possibility by around Feb.
