I was so dumbfounded and want to tell a story! :(

My friend was heavyhearted....... The cat followed to my friend toward near the lake from her backyard. She watched her cat sniff the water of lake. All sudden that big catfish came out and grabs the cat in Catfish's mouth and disappeared into the lake!

Be Caution with small dogs and cats! :ugh:

Oh boy. poor kitty. where did it happen? in the new england? it would make sense if it were in southern.

that is so ironic, catfish vs cat. =X

that just sent a shiver to my spine :cold:

catfish is.... HUGE!!!!

I think, if we look at a records keeping site, we would see that the record for a channel catfish is over 600 pounds.....

I find it ironic when a catfish eats a cat.....both are "cats"....I never heard of a such story like that before...that's probably a HUGE catfish for sure.

I didnt know that catfish likes cats or dogs. i thought only fishes. I learn new thing about catfish. i will let my mom know about it. She has two yorkies.

Channel catfish are pigs; they have found cans, whole auto tires, and other debris, etc in them.....lol

Yellow bullhead - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fish Populations:
The fish population was last sampled in the summer of 1978. The lake was found to contain seven resident species at that time: yellow perch, largemouth bass, bluegill, pumpkinseeds, chain pickerel, yellow bullhead and killifish.

Sounds like someone's loose pet. Seen some mighty big exotic catfishes in people's private collection. I don't think it will be around next year... since they tend to be subtropical or tropical.

If it's in Massachusetts, then there's an irresponsible pet-owner who released his pet fish into a local pond.

Unless the cat was actually a small kitten and the fish got mistaken for a muskie?

Description and identification
Bullheads do not get as large as the other US native catfishes, with averages sizes in the 1 to 2 pound range and world record sizes well under 10 pounds.

All three major bullheads can be confused with other catfishes by novice anglers. Because they have a non-forked tail, many people mistakenly think that small flathead catfish are bullheads. Both have the squared tail, and can have a mottled, brown appearance (in the case of the brown bullhead) but the flathead has a lower lip that protrudes farther than its upper lip and a flat or "shovel" head. They also have very different habits and habitat.

Flatheads generally eat only live things, while bullheads will freely eat dead fish or other small animals. The flathead is more likely to be found at the bottom of dams or in gravel pits, while bullheads are found more often in the most brackish areas. Additionally, flatheads can reach weights well in excess of 100 pounds, while the current world's record for any bullhead is a Black Bullhead, recorded at 8 lb even (3.63 kg),[4] while the average adult is perhaps 2 pounds. Brown and yellow bullheads are significantly smaller.

I've seen a large-mouth bass catch and eat a fiar-sized duck. Anything that a fish can swallow is fair game.

I will ask my friend tomorrow... how old and size of her cat!:ugh:

I did not know catfish ate animals!
How horrible! The poor cat!
My niece had a pet rat and bird . One day she let the bird out of it cage and it landed on the rat cage! The rat jumped up and ate the bird! My poor niece was freaked out and crying!

That's so sad. I will keep my little dogs away from water. :(

This thread got me goose pump :cold:
