I heard there are 9,000 items of pork there. Can anyone explain? I seem to recall Obama speaking in Mississippi last September, saying all that pork has got to go yet here it is. Must be tough eradicating this activity. Anyone know more about this?

The unfortunate thing is that there is going to be "pork" in any bill.....

So ya think past bills had way, way more than 9,000 items of pork? Man, that's staggering, isn't it?

Yeah it is.

Anytime that there is a big bill in Congress and in order for a Congressman/woman to vote for it--they always have to put a little "pork" in it to benefit their constituents.

Just makes one wonder if they are looking out for the entire country or for themselves.....

Not to get into a political squabble but I just learned that Congress had less than 24 hours to read, analyze and vote on this over one thousand page document. Something's afoot, I tell ya.

Yeah, I wonder, too, but shouldn't Obama and his staff go line by line like he said he would in order to keep some of the promises he made?

I thought we had to build a new debt meter for bush when the deflection hit $1 trillion, but I guess they planed for obama's $3 trillion plan.

It's going to get worse, and obama isn't helping.

Wasn't Truman that had a sign on his desk that says, "The buck stops here"?

Yeah, maybe we oughtta go up in the White House attic, dust it off and put it on Obama's desk.

I sure hope so, LOL! I can't imagine reading line by line of what each budget does and the importance of the bill.

I'm glad that Obama and Congress consider to the future of Americans and the USA.

It shows his moviation. I see why not to make a first step at the start to see either it work or not since you know that Obama work on Bush's huge mess...

But it is a very serious problem and many promises to stop were heard during the election campaign. If you are not sure about this, look it up but basically all the pork thrown in the spending bill (over 9,000 items in this one) evade the normal procedure of Congress voting and approving each project/expenditure. Pork are favorite projects of Congressmen and they get money for their districts without the passage of law....I happen to think (not sure if I can prove it),key Congressional leaders purposely thrust it through, not giving Congress the necessary time required to read, study, evaluate this over 1,000 page document.

Ouch! I really wish they have more time to review and approve it rather than skimming because it's very expensive to budget it for 300 million people in the US. It's not a funny thing out there. Obama keeps saying "honest" a bunch of times, so we'll see.

hits rich people hard, mean, we (low and middle income) will lose jobs or get cut.

Yup, it's true.

Sadly, we don't have enough republican or resource to stop him and his spending seems so expensive.

It really doesn't matter how this bill reads, or what it contains, as there are those that would be critical of it no matter. Seems people were very willing to allow Bush 8 years to get us in this mess, but are completely unwilling to allow Obama even as much as 90 days to get things turned around. But I would imagine those same people will be more than willing to take advantage of an improved economy when it does turn around.
