Deaf Activist!

Question for the Canadians!
Hey everyone!
I know Eldridge covers education, legal, medical, etc. I am wondering how much of medical it covers? Does this count for Physiotherapists? Optometrists? Dentists? I should really know these things already...kind of ashamed that I don't! Jenny

Under the Canada Health Act, you are entitled to medical professionals needed to help you.
Quote:
With the Eldridge v. British Columbia, Robin Eldridge's communication rights were infringed because neither social and medical programs paid for the sign language interpreters. Quote:
The failure of the Medical Services Commission and hospitals to provide sign language interpretation where it is necessary for effective communication constitutes a prima facie violation of the s. 15(1) rights of deaf persons. ibid Eldridge will cover medical and legal bills that derives from the injury you sustained and there on. Hope this helps.
