DVD Recorders

Magnavox 160GB DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner
Walmart.com: Magnavox 160GB DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner: DVD & Blu-ray Players

Read about the Magnavox

2160 RECORDS DIGITAL CC, with options for on and off, but the captions become a permanent part of the video... can't be turned off on playback like analog CC can. 3575/3576/2080 can display digital CC but can't record them. All auto-record analog CC, which can be displayed with TV CC control, as normal.

2160 HAS AUTOSTART RECORDING (AR) instead of Pause Live TV (3575/3576) or 2080 version of PLTV, "Time Shift Recording." AR is continuous temp. auto-rec. of channels you tune (up to 6 hours) while machine is on, which only stops (and clears buffer) when powered off, recording with timer or REC button, editing, deleting titles (DVD only), dubbing, changing tuners (analog/digital), changing to a line input, and using certain menus. Whatever is in the 6-hour buffer can be viewed or saved to HDD.

As for the CC Closed Caption in the Panasonic DMR-EZ28K you have to tuner on CC Closed Caption from the Panasonic DMR-EZ28K and it prints it right on the video. Just like how Tivo does it.

Prints it right on the video? Huh? TiVo? My DVD Recorder doesn't do anything like that...are these special features? Why would you want to force open captions like that? I just leave the closed captions on for my TV all the time, and whatever I play will be captioned...what is special about these devices?
