I noticed the same thing. It seems to happen every time a new scene starts, CC is not only delayed but accelerates to catch up and then CC is fine for the rest of this same scene. But when the next new scene starts, CC is messed up again the exact same way.
I have contacted my local station before and they have been very courteous. Looks like I will have to contact them again. Peter |

CBS has been pretty bad for the last few months. Here locally (St. Louis area) all of my captioning is pretty bad, but I guess I'll live. When I contact the local stations, they say it's due to the HD transition or the cable company I use (Charter).

I notice this when I watch Jay Leno! The CC are really delay and made it hard to read them! I have notice there been a lot mistake in spelling lately! there was a story about the storm making the waves powerful and the CC said the "waves were Catholic on the shore'" ! I think it was meant to say "crashing on the shore!" I was like what the hell are they talking about!

I call the station when the CC do not come in something they're working on it or have no idea their CC is not working! I watch Channel 7 a lot . I hate when the weather reports does not have CC or the news! And the CC are way to fast and I hate where they are place on TV! Some time the CC are right across the people faces! This bug me and to think people spend all that time trying to look good before going on TV and they end up words running across their faces the whole time!

A candidate is running for Ted Kennedy's seat in Ma. I was thinking of voting for the guy until I notice he has no CC on his adds on TV. I called up his office and ask why Mike Capuano has no CC , if it was an oversight or that he does not care about deaf and HOH people. I was told that Mike worked with the ADA for deaf and HOH! Mike worked with ADA and he has no Close
Captioning on his TV adds! I was told it was an oversight that there were no CC . I wonder why Mike is really involve with ADA if he can't remember to have CC on his TV adds! |

With Analog TV the captions are imbedded in video itself and so it always in sync with the video unless someone mistiming the caption when adding it to the video.
With Digital TV Video and Audio and Caption all have it own tracks seperately so if it not in sync they can seem to either be delayed or going too fast. Same with audio can be delay or going too fast. So many networks are still learning how to take old analog programming and covert it to digital signal. When networks convert it to digital it seperate the video audio and caption to it own tracks that networks may have send it over air or on cable out of sync so all seem to be delayed from each tracks I am sure networks check video and audio tracks carefully but probably did not think about checking caption track too to make sure it in sync too!!!!! So networks are still learning and it will improve but always let your networks know when it not in sync to remind networks to check the closed caption track to make sure it in sync with video. . |

Yeah, when I watched CSI show, the caption tend to lag... (amiss, then too fast) then stopped working momentarily. I sure hope they get it fixed cuz I'd hate to miss what the show is saying.
![]() When I watch Law and Order on NBC, the caption works fine, and in any other broadcaster channels works fine as well.

CBS in my area used to have serious CC issues but not anymore. I use Over the Air (OTA) antenna, not cable or satellite. All of my local stations are 100% digital (HDTV or SDTV). I contacted my local CBS station and they worked hard to fix it. I don't think it's a nationwide problem. If others are having CC issues in different locations, then it's most likely a local area problem.
I watched CSI last night and it was perfect. Contact your local station or subscriber and hopefully they will be helpful to resolve CC issue. Peter |

Now you mention it. I rarely watch ABC shows because they kind of suck but I have tried to watch "Castle" and their CC is delayed pretty bad. But some other ABC shows seem to be fine but I can't be sure. If CC behaviour is different in different shows, then CC issues are likely from the shows or studios, not the local stations.

Fox CC in Reno, NV is pretty bad during non-prime-time shows (mostly re-runs like Seinfeld, Simpsons and Everybody Loves Raymond).
But Fox CC is excellent for primetime High Def shows ("24", House, Bones, Fringe). Very strange. Peter |
