Urgent help: Philips 5960 and CC HDMI support ( built in cc decoder ):YES or NO?

Hi

I just recently purchased a Plasma 50" HDTV and was shocked to find out that the CC does not work via HDMI (options on the TV are grayed out for CC using those connections).

I've tried with three different upconvert DVD players, hooked it up via HDMI and sure enough, no CC. Then I've read that:

"Well I have looked into the DVD player from PHILIPS. and it will work
with a HDMI cable and give you Closed Captions. It has the Captions
Decoder in the DVD player.... The Philips 5960 DVD player will do what
you need..."

Can anyone confirm this information?

Send a message via Yahoo to PowerON
check your DVD player's setting to enable the CC on.

Otherwise, HDMI are most like no CC support go though.

See page 41 of owner's manual.

Also see this link:

DVP5960/37 - DVD Player - Players and recorders - DVD and home theater - Philips

Click on Owner's manual link and go to page 41. It does not specify whether it will work through HDMI. Let us know if this will work. This is the first DVD player I have seen with Closed Caption support. This is interesting. How much did you pay for it?
