How can they do that?

My daughter is in a DHH early program.
She goes into the regular SK class, every day for an hour.
In which there is 21 kids in that class.
Last year in her IPRC I requested an interpreter.
They said because she was only 72 dL they could not provide one. Now she is 80 dL and STILL WONT.
She needs an interpreter in that class. So far they sent an EA with her.
Yea whatever!
Any suggestions?
I called the super attendant today left a message.
She qualifies by the Board of Ed now because she is greater than 75dL.
I don't get what the issue is?

It doesn't matter what her dB level is...the onlything that matters is that sign is her first language and the mode of communication she uses. Just tell them that you will not be signing an IEP that does not include an interpreter, and if they continue to refuse to provide one, youwill be requesting a due process hearing. BTW, do they provide you with a terp for your meetings about your daughter with the school? They are under federal mandate to do that, as well. PM me if you want more info.

True. It didn't give a location under her Avatar. I thought she lived in the states.

And you keep fighting, raingurl! The only way anything ever gets changed is for parents like you to fight the system.
