Is there captioning in the movie theatres?

Yet another thing I am wondering about.
I don't go to the movies because despite the loudness I don't get it.
I have to watch DVD, it's not the same.
Big screen is a big screen.
I wish there were captions there.

I can totally relate AudioFuzzy. I love being in the huge movie, the sound effect and all, but needs CC to be able to follow the movie.

Thanks Kootchie! This is what I needed! Am surprised to see one of the cities in my state that isn't too far from where I live. I wanna watch Batman Beigins with CC because we went last week without CC and it was kind of hard to follow.

Yea, I know what you mean, Katzie.. My husband and I are a "movie goingers", we always go to see a movies when it come out, and I had a hard time following them what they say. I told the people in the theaters that I want the CC or subtitles on, but they said, "No", we won't make no money to get those subtitles or CC and I was like "UH". I notice all theaters that have CC are locates in Pittsburgh, PA and Washington, DC, but it's WAY too far away from where I live.

I guess I will have to wait till the movies come out on DVD and I can watch at home with subtitles.

If you subscribe to their mailing list, they will send you schedules for what is being captioned this week and so on.

Also, go to http://www.insightcinema.org/films_states1.html , it shows places where there are open-captioned cinemas. It has schedules there as well.

We don't have captioning movie theatres...

There're only one movie theatre in Nürnberg, we can visit to once a month. It's expensive to use captioning to every theatres...

Well, I'm happy with DVD because they have captioning... I rather to stay at home to have a good relax and drink glass of red wine to watch good movies on DVD/TV.

Well, in West Virginia.. Charleston and Huntington are like 3 hours drive from where I live.. I like in the middle of no where. Here we are, we are like 2 hours drive from Pittsburgh, 4 hours from Washington, DC, 3 hours from Charleston and Huntington.

Thanks peeps.
I am going to check these links.

as for money matters- I don't care about the costs. That's crap.
If they can CC DVD and home videos at, they obviously can do in theatres too.

After all the movies come pre- recorded, might as well pre-record CC.
All the movie theatres need to do is install CC decoder- once.
I am willing to pay and extra dollar in tickets to have this.

I am too shy to start anything but why not somebody start a campaing to have CC in every theater.
They do not have to place CC like we have on TV,
we are technologically evolved far enough to be able to put extra stripe under for cc text only. So other people won't complain CC covers part of the action..

I went to a movie theater with my deaf friends for the first time in 10 years We watched the Interpreter. I was glad that there were captions on the screen - instead of wearing stupid plastic glasses. Now, I like the theater because the seats are higher than old tradition - to see the whole screen. In the past, I remember that I was stuck with some women who have a mountain of hairs that block of the view. If that happens, I would bring an electric shaver.

Regal Cinemas recently added OC to a few more theaters in Portland metro area. Before, I had to drive up to Vancouver, Washington to watch OC movies but now there is a theater right by my house that offers OC films so Im excited! Shorter drive!

BIG disappoitment. Went to the theater to ask about what movies are captioned.
They told me only one choosen movie per week at choosen hours.
This week they play Fantastic 4 or something like that next week Willy Wonka.
CRAP CRAP CRAP.

I am interested in neither.
I was hoping to see Bewitched.

They didn't even have any schedule.

CRAPPITY CRAP.
