Communication in asl is such a frustrating thing for me... so much i want to say but so difficult for me to express what i want to say. If i had a dime for everytime a deaf person would avert their gaze while i was struggling to find the right signs, I'd be rich.
I'm coming up on my 2 year asl anniversary...I kinda thought i'd be better at it than I am now.
I know i'm not the brightest star in the sky but my expectations were heckava lot higher for myself.

Everyone is an individual, that being said don't be so hard on yourself. Deaf have been abused for so long it is hard for us to open up to each person that comes along with the want to learn. If you keep it up and show us that you really want to do this I am sure it will happen! One thing I know helped one of my hearing buddies was she told me she turned off all her hearing things in the house and started "being deaf". You gotta try being more like we are to understand what is like to be deaf. It's not just a language it is our way of life. (not sure this really helped??)Posted 01-04-2009 at 04:43 PM by signtd
