I find myself being asked more and more if I "like being deaf" and it really doesnt bother me tell the other day when someone came up to me and said... "I notice that you wear hearing aids and use a interpreter, I am very sorry that you are deaf you must miss out on life all the time." At first it caught me off guard and then I was like excuse me but I am not missing out on anything. I dont let being deaf slow me down in fact I am happy to be deaf. I get to experience the world...

I was a full time peace officer in the most violent city in northern California (ask me how I did that since I am 60db one ear, 10 db the other!)... but, gulp, I left my job and became a full time Ph.D. student at the University of California, Davis. Major pay cut... I am fortunate, UCD gave me a full scholarship, so I am grateful! Go Aggies of UCD.
