My parents are mean spirited fundamentalist Xians, and hard core republicans, and they haven't talked to me for more than 10 years. I spend my Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday with friends, many of whom come from similar backgrounds. I have come to realize that family isn't necessarily people who share DNA; but, people who love you, would drive 500 miles and spend their last $$ to help you... that is family. I have a new family made up of wondeful friends.

Very very true. I have friends I would walk over broken glass to help and family members that I wouldn't cross the street to see. Sounds cold hearted, but they aren't nice people.Posted 10-13-2008 at 07:37 AM by katie2d
