Hearing guy from Chicago about his deaf exboyfriend:

Sorry if this sounds shallow, but as a gay guy, the best relationship I've had was with my last boyfriend, whom was deaf, and ever since I've been waiting for another one to come along, haha.
I met him when I was taking an ASL class because my friends from the city (Chicago) told me they would fill in the blanks and help me along since few of them were either HoH or deaf.
Now I'm not saying that deaf boys are better matches for hearing people, but he was different. And I liked this kind of different.
He read my emotions better as well as my expressions and body language.
He took more time to read my poems and stories
He loved watching every single movie I owned with me
And I know this sounds funny, but in whatever way we conversed since I struggle with ASL, there was more patience and understanding than in relationships previous.
Now I'm not saying every deaf gay guy is like this, but my deaf or HoH friends ARE pretty similar and I'm just hoping another guy out there wouldn't mind dating a hearing guy and taking the time to work through the barrier.
*hint hint* if ur reading this and ur gay/from chicago this means u lol
hoping this isnt shallow

Does not sound shallow to me. I am gay. I am from Chicago. I used to work with blind and deaf people. When one has the loss of a sense they make up for it in other ways. It sounds like you still love him. I hope you are at least still friends. I wish you all the best life has to offer.
