Should US/Senator to ratify CRPD?
Posted 07-12-2012 at 02:04 AM by Outsider
On July 12, 2012 a message has caught my attention about the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) which I've never heard of. The ALERT message was asked public people to support and advise Senator to ratify this CRPD at the hearing where the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee will be holding a hearing on Thursday, July 12, at 9:00 a.m. at the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room G-50. The reason why this subject had caught my attention was because I am disabled Deaf with both ears and do stand to support the human civil right for disabilities, but this one was different.
In my opinion about this request to advise senator, is NOT NECESSARY. I do not support this kind of CRPD idea in our country. Since I do understand that we already have this American with Disabilities Act (ADA) since 1990 and I also have discovered that President Barack Obama had signed an order for the United States to become a signatory to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in July 24, 2009.
The question I had in mind was why do we need US/Senator to ratify CRPD while our country already being recognized as a human civil right for disabilities?
This Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities idea I understand came from the international human rights instrument of the United Nations. We are better than having the United Nations or other country over us about this. We do NOT NECESSARY need to be monitors convention by the United Nations or outside States parties to ensure that we are treating our disabilities people with respect.
I would rather senator against this CRPD idea in our country.
