so many bloody parents are opting the oral method with this attitude "learn our way or hit the highway" and the child doesn't have a choice or a voice.

It's so tiring to read that they think Oral only education is the best option, but they should be reading about the risks of putting their child through that way and look at numerous studies showing such evidence. And meeting many ex-Oralists would help disabuse their perceived opinions.

It makes me want to smash their heads together, and I'm not a violent person by any means.

I don't think the future is bright for deaf children in western worlds with the exception of the Scandinavian countries.

We all could learn a thing or two from Denmark, Sweden and implement it in our system. It should succeed, but no thanks to audists, it won't without their support.

Still to this day, deaf kids are being dumped in hearing school with no support or very little support. And their parents wonder why the said child is doing so poorly.

I wish Profession Clarke didn't write in his book that mainstreaming is the best way for children with CI because they don't need accommodations, and therefore are cheaper for the government to educate compared to deaf children in an all deaf school.

But the mental, social, psychological cost are so much higher and therefore will cost the Govt a lot more in the long term due to need for treating mental problems, more need for counselling, because many of those displaced kids won't have the fluency in language to function properly, nor do they all know how to cope.

Bleak picture is what I'm seeing right now.....

Time to boot out all the audists and put in competent professionals who are all for the full toolbox approach.

Oh, may AGBAD and hearies at the Milan Conference 1880 ROT in HELL for damaging deaf kids from that time and ensuring the cycle to continue the damage to this day.

Spending my time at MIFF this week

This week and the next week I'll be imitating a film buff by attending 13 films in 2 weeks.

The nicest thing about having a International Film Festival in your town is that majority of films on offer are captioned, so I can sit and enjoy the movie with the audience.

I hope I won't be coming home like this :eek3:

Hehehe!

One more aspect about this festival I enjoy the most is the fact I can choose to see as many as I want and with flexibility, as much as one can in two weeks, and with caption whereas OC films in mainstream cinema are on only 3 times a week.........

Well, I dream of investing in several properties and then renting them all out.......while still living at home.

I wish I have a million dollars or two to start that dream and see it achieved so then I can retire either early or very, very comfortably in the long term.

Would be nice if I could buy a house for my sister, an single mother so she can have security in having a house to call her own.

Also want to buy mum an investment property so she can have some extra monies to live on because the today market is affecting her superannuation.....

Dreams can be so nice, nicer especially when they come true.

Time for me to find a blank videotape and tape The Closer so mama won't miss out.
