Hi
I am a hearing student at SUNY Ulster in NY State. I'm taking a class called "Intro to Deaf Culture"
I took the class because I would like to know more about the Deaf world. I havn't taken an ASL class yet, but know a few signs. I plan on taking ASL before I finish. I feel that we need to educate the Hearing about the Deaf so that they have a better understanding of how to treat and communicate with the Deaf. I will be giving a presentation about Deaf experiences. Would anyone like to talk about their personal experiences? It would be highly appreciated.

I'm so sorry they don't understand, people including families really need to become more aware of how you feel. I think that ASL should be a required subject learned in every public school in the US.
