Hi
I am a hearing student at SUNY Ulster in NY State. I'm taking a class called "Intro to Deaf Culture"
I took the class because I would like to know more about the Deaf world. I havn't taken an ASL class yet, but know a few signs. I plan on taking ASL before I finish.
I feel that we need to educate the Hearing about the Deaf so that they have a better understanding of how to treat and communicate with the Deaf. I will be giving a presentation about Deaf experiences. Would anyone like to talk about their personal experiences? It would be highly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. I can't imagine not being able to communicate
with your family. I'm so sorry they don't understand, people including
families really need to become more aware of how you feel. I think that ASL
should be a required subject learned in every public school in the US.
