Can anyone help me?

Posted 05-01-2008 at 06:54 AM by goldenunidragon
Hello everyone!
First of all, I think that everyone should know that I am not deaf. However, I come from a deaf household; my mother is deaf, my little sister, my little brother, and my mother's boyfriend. I'm planning to become an interpreter as I get older because I have a lot of experience in that area. I'm also planning to become a business lawyer to help the deaf community. I know that some deaf people have a hard time understanding and negotiating contracts, so I want to help. Especially in Florida because Floridians do not know deaf law. At this time I'm 16 and I'm writing a research paper on my future career as an ASL Interpreter. Is anyone up for an interview? It'd be most appreciated.

Hi . I 've read your comment. I am deaf and it's interested me that your household are deafies. That's cool. I know as I can see that you really want to help when you are older. I don't know alot about the Fla law almost nothing that I know of. I visited Fla for years because my husband's family used to lived there. I know alot aobut Maryland law you can interptering for other deafies but you have to go to school like night class and get the degree to become a interpter. Also my interpeter work there in Baltimore for years and very good inpterpreters I have and if I need them I contact them. But if you go to church to inpterpreting for the deaf .. no problem .But to courhouse.. drs .. etc yes they will request yo to see your interpreter license / cerf whatever is it. If you want my interpreter address where they work at that building the name of place in Blatimore I will give it to you if you are interesting.
Good luck .
