what do you think of mainstreaming?Hi I Was Born With A Hearing Loss And Now Its Severe To Profound Unfortunality I Was In Mainstreamed Class Had Speech Therapy Everyday I Was Pulled Out Of English And Math Just Basics Classes. I Never Had What I Have Now In College. When I Went To College Back In 2004 For The 1st Time Iw As Put In Non Credit Courses For 3 Years Bc When I Took The Test.. I Didnt Know Wut It Was Bc I Never Learned Anything. They Treated Me Like Crap, I Was Isolated, Made Fun Of Etc. Being Pulled Out In Mainstreamed Classees Sucked. And Now Till This Day I Wish Iw As At A Different School A Deaf School And Now That I Just Learned Asl 2 Yrs Ago And Im Not The President Of The Club For 2 Yrs Also Its Just A Better Life For Me. And I Wouldnt Change This For The World Bc Now Im Fluent. I Can Hear Somewhat Still But Nothing Like I Used To. Also In Mainstreamed Class I Had 5 People In The Class And I Had An Aid With Me And A Hudge Speaker On My Desk And The Teacher Had Microphone Bc They Thought That Would Help Me. I Struggled Growing Up But Now That Im 22 Yrs Old I Am Happy That Im Me And I Know Asl And I Love The Deaf Communtiy.

Magie60 wants to knowTo GamberHi,
I think you're absolutely right about encouraging your daughter to continue to sign. Does she realize that she will need it when she gets her CI? I think sign is beautiful, and I will be starting my sign classes in the fall. I'm working towards my Sign Language Interpreters Certificate as well as my AA degree. Tell your daughter that "sign rules" Magie60 |

Can anyone help me?Hi . I 've read your comment. I am deaf and it's interested me that your household are deafies. That's cool. I know as I can see that you really want to help when you are older. I don't know alot about the Fla law almost nothing that I know of. I visited Fla for years because my husband's family used to lived there. I know alot aobut Maryland law you can interptering for other deafies but you have to go to school like night class and get the degree to become a interpter. Also my interpeter work there in Baltimore for years and very good inpterpreters I have and if I need them I contact them. But if you go to church to inpterpreting for the deaf .. no problem .But to courhouse.. drs .. etc yes they will request yo to see your interpreter license / cerf whatever is it. If you want my interpreter address where they work at that building the name of place in Blatimore I will give it to you if you are interesting.
Good luck . |
