new hearing aids nadia 9s

got new phonak nadia 9s
intial setup was cool watching the feedback control assessment...
seems like i need to turn all the sounds up one notch...
can barely hear my cell phone with it up to my hear but works great using speakerphone...
first day is weird...some conversations and hearing my own voice sounded strange at times but not all the time...
going home and see how enjoyable watching tv and doing as little as possible will be...

I have been afraid of "loud sounds" I now have my hearing aids turned all the way up and will visit my HA dispenser next week to set the volume control up higher
1-31-10
I put them to the test....i put some headphones on, had the tv on and talking to my wife...when the washer and dryer kicked in...my hearing aids made a couple of beeping noises and tuned rach, tv, and washer out and all I could hear was my headphones pretty cool!

phonak programming is awesome
went for 1st adjustment
had the lower frequency and overall sound turned up a notch, added a music program so I can put the hearing aids in music mode while using headphones and now understand how to operate the programs
Here is how my hearing aid is programed
1. you press the button to hear one beep on either the left or the right to zoom the microphone into that direction
2. press the button to hear 2 beeps on either hearing aid instructs the microphone to zoom directly behind you
3. press the button to hear 3 beeps and go into music mode (to wear your ipod and hearing aids will not jump into another program setting when you hear "silence")
4. press the button again mutes the hearing aid
5. press the button again you hear a grovy bunch of beeps and hearing aid is back in default mode
2 things I have figured out about the nadia IX...
the volume defaults back to basic volume so if you like keeping the volume turned up 2 levels from the default volume...you will have to turn them up 2 notchs on each program you want to use with the exception of the mute
say you press the right button to zoom to the right but then wished you zoomed to the left...you have to recycle from the right to the back to the music program, to the mute program, then when you return to the default ...press the left button WOW I would have never figured that out if I hadn't gone in for a adjustment...

ate lunch in public today, very easy to hear people, i am used to trying hard to be a effective communicator....just seems more natural and easier to be social
Played Basketball and wore these bte hearing aids and they didn't cut out on my the whole time for the first time in my life!
