I just heard on the local TV news that there will be NO CHARGES FILED against the driver that killed the two motorcyclists. He will just get a ticket for driving too fast.

*Warning - clueless opinion* I think if you have a sewing machine and proper thread - you can do it yourself. If you prefer to have it done by professional - preferably the one who is motorcycle-oriented... I know one. She is well-known in ADV community and everybody uses her for fixing/altering/repairing motorcycle gear with custom stuff. She posts the before-after pix. It's amazing. Her price is extremely reasonable. She has specific threads & specific fabric material for specific scenario. Her ADV name is Annie Sez? Something like that... I will look her up when I get home and I will give you the link to her thread.

Wirelessly posted
I would get a leather tailor to do it. If it's demin, then I wpuld do my own. Not with leather though-- too expensive to accidentally wreck on your own.

I have a sewing machine but I don't know about sewing on leather thru a thick patch, in a circle. I don't want to mess up the leather. |

A comment from the newspaper:
"To the families, Sorry for your loss. I went through this about a year and a half ago when my husband was killed on his way to work. He was riding his motorcycle. He had on all the safety gear. My situation was different because he was killed by an illegal alien. Third offense with no license. All he was charged with was disregarding a traffic signal and released on 474.00 bond . He RAN a red light. He fled and can't be found. They made sure they did a drug test on my dead husband. No Drug TEST ON THIS MURDERER. Could this outcome be different if he tested positive for alcohol or drugs. I tried to get charges upgraded through North Charleston. Endless battle. My nine year old without a daddy always ask me if they will catch Martinez and put him in jail. I have to tell him no because they are not looking.(even though he never showed up for court, he was a flight risk) My son says "but he killed my daddy". No justice . A long and painful 1 1/2 years.... 5/19/2010 11:27 PM EDT on Post and Courier " This is very upsetting. |

You definitely know this flag etiquette - fly the American flag on right side and it should be higher than any other flag

looking at your pix of hubby's bike (link)... I see that you have rear bracket for cargo. That'll make your job easier. Definitely can do DIY without buying flag mounting kit online.

Update:
The Post and Courier - Police release more details in fatal crash - Charleston SC - postandcourier.com More answers but also more questions. ![]() TCS drove that same route yesterday to observe the area. He told me that there was a wide grassy median on one side, and a wide shoulder on the other side; plenty of room to swerve to avoid or at least mitigate the collision. The driver admits to being on the cell phone before the collision. He exits the SUV holding a cell phone. That means, at the very least, he was driving with one hand. Maybe that's why he didn't pull the emergency brake or make an evasive swerve to avoid hitting the motorcyclists. He couldn't hold onto the phone and do those actions at the same time. ![]() I would like to see the report from his prior rear-end collision. |

Not only it's dangerous, it's giving people incentives to shun motorcycles.

Good news! TCS's plate and registration came in. Now he has everything he needs to take the safety course and register his bike on base with a military sticker.
He's scheduled to take the course on Tuesday morning, IF it doesn't rain, and IF someone else doesn't show up (TCS is on the standby list). I hope it all goes well so he can take the course and get it over with. Otherwise, he'll have to wait another month for next opportunity. |

Hi all: I have not be on the site for awhile. My company vehicle had a major meltdown. $854 in repairs. So this week I worked overtime to catch up.
As Reba mentioned, I am ready to take my BMRC again. The last time was 1974. While reviewing the forum for Hyosung motorcycle owners, I found a couple of interesting topics: In S. Korea, speeding ticket costs are assessed by the engine cc's, not by the mph over the legal speed limit. People who bought Hyosung bikes and wanted to register them in NJ were getting put off because the company was not registered in the state. Some people had been waiting more than 6 months. ![]() And finally, my 650 "cruiser" goes from 0-60 in 4 seconds with a top speed of 130-140. I won't be doing any of that! Reba will be watching over my shoulder.
