Upgrade pulse plug (not spark plug) it give 4-5 more mpg.
The world's most powerful spark plug from Enerpulse
Pulse plug is more energy than spark plug which it's help more MPG.
Only take 10-20 minute depend what engine.

Replace the air intake. Around 5 mpg more.
K&N High Performance Air Filters, Oil Filters, & Air Intakes - Official K&N Engineering Site OR ebay and type "Subaru air intake"
Air intake help MORE air flow than mostly stock air intake
Only take 5 minute to replace the new air intake system.

Seems expensive but will be worth it in the long run.

10 MPG is pretty a lot to me and save a lot money for gasoline.

If it was that simple, why aren't the manufacturers doing that?

I don't think it'll work as much as it may sound since the manufacturers aren't doing that.

Marketing gimmick, nothing new. I'd like a proof from customer reviews.

Bogus!

Spark plugs - whether small or large discharge, you'll get the same combustion rate. It's the quality of the fuel that matters here.

Air intake - The intake should be clear, any obstruction and you will have trouble starting the vehicle. So only two things can occur - engine will run or die. There is no optimal performance unless you replace it with a super charged intake - which means MORE fuel! The manufacture has a set oxygen-fuel combustion rate, any attempt to add more air will not improve the performance.

Like I said, if the manufacturers would do that themselves if it would increase MPG but they don't cause it's a waste of money. It would be to their advantage to include those since they aren't much more than original parts. At the end, they don't cause it's just a gimmick to try to sell parts.

Yep, no matter how good the spark plugs are, it won't improve power or mpg. The higher octane fuel which an engine is tuned to, will improve power. The fact is that gasoline engine is only around 20 percent efficent and most of the energy lost is heat, diesel engines have better efficency than gasoline engines.

Well, I have noticed a bit more power with a short ram intake installed on my car that I used to have, better throttle response, etc. I don't think there's any difference with a stock airbox.

I am disagree with you about trouble with engine. I use air intake for 8 years and i have no problem with engine 130,000 mileage now. Please keep the mind. This topic is not ABOUT performance. It's about mpg.

In facts all Semi truck have same type intake like that.

I used "performance" to mean mpg also to avoid sounding redundant. If you can explain how it improves mpg in detail, I just may condider it, but in just gimmicks, it's not easily accepted.

Hmm "performance" always mean HP and RPM to me.

I just explained that more air flow to help improve mpg.

K&N Air Filters, K And N Filters
READ ALL customer reviews and explain to me why they noticed there MPG is gain?

No assumed please. I suggest you get the intake then test yourself then you will see.

I didn't assume anything.. I just suggested that those reviews should be taken with grain of salt.

He probably works for those companies and is trying to advertise for them. ;)

I've seen many different stuff that supposedly improves your mileage, but they are all advertising gimmicks.

Yeah, it takes alot to improve mpg. There is nothing that cheap or simple to improve mpg by 5 mpg more.
