Do you know anything about the Morris Minor?

My neighbor has a 1954 convertible one for sale, $800.

It's British racing green with a black rag top. It's right-hand drive, from New Zealand (even has sheep skin seat covers, heh, heh).

The tiny engine could fit in a plastic shopping bag.

This is Morris Minor, my Father used to own it when I was little.

When I was in high school - I think it was 1973 a chinese friend of ours used to drive us there in his Morris Minor (We get our car licenses at age 15 over in New Zealand).

We got pulled over by a copper on day who gave us a full on lecture about speeding and how we were pushing him to do it. I had no idea those things could even reach the speed limit.

When he was told to pull over I looked at his speedo and it said 60 mph and I thought we're in the sh*t now........

The copper told us we were doing 40 mph in a 30 zone. That's a great speedometer I thought.....

Back in the 60's and 70's, every 5th or 6th car was a Minor. You could see snails overtaking them on the mountain bends (almost - but I'm sure some won, LOL).

Morris Minor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia shows more details

My 3rd car was a 1960 Morris Minor 1000. It went well and ran on the smell of an oily rag. But !RUST! typical of English cars of the era, the engines could be put in go karts or boats long after the body disintegrated from rust. Had many happy miles from the car.

Ah nostalgia....Still happier with more modern cars these days, but.

Thanks for sharing the your personal experiences. :ty: Very interesting!

It is in the United States.

One of my other neighbors bought it. I haven't seen them driving it for a long time though.

I've seen this car here in KS. It's rarely around here. Cute little car.

My parent's neighbor who was an old fashioned car mechanic. He had old European car and it fits me like a glove when I was 12 years old. It have little 4 cylinder engine. My friend who is an Irish citizen and he said European car engine tend to be smaller than American but transmission is big.

Old Geo Metro engine rival to its size of European car but it's only 3 cylinder. It's 90 lbs Orbital engine that a strong man can hoist engine out with bare hand.
