Looking for word

Hello,

I am looking for a right word since my friend couple who are going become parent. They have face issue and they want benefit and prepare for everything but they bit felt not sure what else to do that moment.

They enrolling into Childbirth prepare... the person who responible for enroll classes and told not promise to able to get interpreter or other choice. They need hired interpreter themselves.

I told them can't do that because it do with something that I was told. I did paid interpreter in pass due refused interpreter for doctor appointment. I have a question and what right word.

It base on something law that we can bring interpreter hospital but they need get their own interpreter.

What right word that I can explain them about different bring own interpreter vs they hire interpreter

Are you talking about bringing up the American Disabilities Act in order for the person who is responsible for the childbirth preparation class to know about how to hire an interpreter for your friend "couple"?

Or are you meaning you want to find the right word for interpreters that volunteers or what?

I'm trying to understand what you meant by that. Can you try to clarify this?

I'm not sure what word you are looking for unless it is ADA. But if the childbirth classes are conducted through the hospital, then the hospital is responsible for hiring an interpreter. They have to insure that any services they offer, such as childbirth classes or seminars on other health issues, are accessible. This is guaranteed through Federal law.

However, if the childbirth class is offered by another organization that has fewer than 15 employees, they are exempted from the ADA and don't have to make accommodations.

The first thing to find out is who is sponsoring the childbirth classes.

The "Childbirth Preparation" to enroll the class, but it request for interpreter. They were like not sure about that and asking if volunteer friend or family to interpreter. It costs 60 dollars and not able get us interpreter and just sitting and not understand what benefit for couple who is pregnancy.

So I am not try to bash to person over phone with that lady. Is there right sentence or proper to say instead being so total asshole or whatever word they will reaction.

I just want to firm and they need to understand that hospital by the law that we couldn't bring our own interpreter to hospital. Know what I am saying? The course class be at hospital.

Ah, now I understand what you meant.

Perhaps you can refer the lady to an interpreter agency because sometime the interpreter agency will be more than happy to help and to explain the need of an interpreter.

Since you mentioned that the Childbirth Preparation Classes are to be at the Hospital - You'd need to find out who is responsible for the classes. Is the classes sponsored by the hospital or by any other kind of agencies?

If it is sponsored by the hospital - refer to Jillio's post because it explains it all. That is what you will need to tell the lady about.

If the class is being held in the hosptial, then it is probably supported through their maternity and newborn program. In that case, the hospital is required to provide accommodation and make the program accessable to all.

The easiest way to resolve this might be to have your friends talk to the hospital social worker. She should be able to help them obtain an interpreter for the childbirth classes.
