i was just rather curious to see if anyone has been turn down for/of anything because of their "disability."

Not only discriminate against disability, it can be discrimintate against age, race or sexual orientation even more.

I've been discriminated due to disability too often. Although I'm a bi female I get discriminated far more for my disability then for my sexual orientation or my gender.

People focus too much about discrimination against gender and race.

It's about people considered other forms of discrimination too. Paricularly ageism, Ableism and specism.

yes regarding both disability and sexual orientation; also experienced anti-Semitism

that would be a yes a recent yes I have been advised by the county to take up litigation in this case.

I have often wondered if some jobs I interviewed for in the past I would have gotten if I were not deaf. But I have no way of knowing that for sure, and never pursued the issue with those prospective employers. Who wants to work with an employer who won't give me a chance -- if the decision to not hire me was based on my deafness? So that's why I don't pursue it. I don't think I've ever felt discriminated against anywhere else, though. Maybe pitied, but that's an entirely different story.

people is discrimmation to people deaf or hearing people, don't be blame you beacuse I don't want to aginast people .

dreama,

<can I ask this or am I highjacking?> so u vegan? I was vegan too previously.

continuing the discrimination theme.......as a bi female also I have had issues from both straight people and some lesbians.
and many don't understand or believe LD, particularly if one reads well.

Same here.

I have made it through several interviews. Some I have not made it through.

I have never really looked back and and thought if they were being discriminating towards my hearing loss. I have had so many other openings that I really did not care to. So I really can not say if I was discriminated against or not.

I was also discriminated against and I am proud to say that they wish they never did what they did!

Was it because of your lifestyle or because of your deafness?

Deafness.

They wouldn't provide for an interpreter for staff meetings after requesting it several times.

I filed a complaint with EEOC and then my employer fired me for doing that.

I sued.

I won.
