Australian Disability Act: Deafness Resource Centre

Alright y'all....it is time for me to tell you something, which will anger your emtions on what this will reveal, and I WOULD love to see your perspective and suggestions on this.

All of you who knows me well from the past two years, and I am locally from Canberra, which is the National Captial of Australia, indeed. (Not Sydney, of course)..... Some of you know that each state in Australia and America, of course have a deaf centre to give the services, support and other things that can be provided to the deaf community. In my local hometown of Canberra, DRC - Deafness Resource Centre is the centre of the services for the deaf community.

Know what happened to it? This has brought a GREAT disappointment to the deaf community of Canberra and whatnot. In the past two years, the CEO, renamed the 'King' which the man the deaf community HATEs which includes myself, why?

The King, himself is hard of hearing and an old hag, and has no history in sign language, and guess what? He hates the deaf community too! Surprise...surprise... but there's more.

Let me tell you from the very beginning, but I can not disclose any sepcific details but I can modify a bit of a similar story (NOTE **** Names are not real) more than two years ago, nearly three, I reckon. An manager of the interpreter Service, which has run by a lovely lady, who is an interpreter herself, has been running in barriers against the 'King' ...the manager of the interpreter service runs the services which exceeded the deaf community's expectations, and the deaf community loved it, but when the old CEO was sacked for reasons known, the new CEO (the evil old hag) moved in, things changed to our disgust. The manager was forced to leave the services for many reasons explained to the community.

The services for the deaf community was affected very very much, in the past two years, there was NO support, NO services for the deaf -- YES, YOU READ IT, NOTHING. The CEO mostly supported on his side, the 'hard of the hearing' community, and what to our deaf community's disgust, the interpreter service has fallen down BADLY, since there is only one interpreter in the service, which is a new manager himself, and the CEO was trying to shutdown the interpreter service and take over the monies they have -- luckily, the manager knew what's going on, and is blocking and preventing him from doing it. BUT the worst thing, it was merged into with DRC, but note this, DRC is a service for the community and the interpreter service is a DIFFERENT service where they provide interperters for the deaf and hard of hearing (who knows sign language or interprets into voices from deaf people etc)

but to my worst fear, a lot of deaf people in the community, has left the hometown they love, why? No service and support for us. BECAUSE of the CEO. We have a very patient man who works in administration has been forced to keep his jon to maintain the services but this man wants to see the service back to what it was supposed to be two or three years ago, where a lot of deaf people streaming to the office for support and other reason to be serviced. Now, there is NOT one deaf person approching the office, it has been an misery for us. Unfortuantely, what I have noticed, a lof of deaf people have the fear to overforce not to sack this idiot CEO ---- Now, this is MY vent of the day, I am going to bring the worst deaf power to bring this protest to the government of Australia to have this man, sacked for good and not to be contacted within any disability services. This man has brought us dismay and disgusts.

In my deaf community, we need DEAF POWER.

For the wording from me, (excuse moi, my language)

For the 'King' of DRC -- F**k you!

I am trying to find them, but it is with one of the department within mine. I will have to contact them to provide me the booklet.

Disability Rights Homepage - Australian Human Rights Commission

Here is the government site. It tells how to file complaints.

I know, I know. I need to bring a lot of power into the deaf community to bring this to the end.

Doesn't the Deaf Resource Centre have a Board of Trustees?

No, they don't and it is a private business organisation funded by the government obviously.

You need to meet, in person, a representative in your town about the situation. Then, the representative meets other representatives in several towns to set up a meeting and make it formal to remove this man from the office, the King. You also want to start a formal petition. This should be significant. You must have a proof for all the documents. Make sure that you have the copies for backup. Do you have a hearing or deaf family to help you?

Indeed, this is right but you can raise your concerns to the House representative and senator in your electional area. These elected people HAVE to represent you to the Federal Government and raise some questions during question time. I assure you these questions may lead to some more findings and gains some more exposure on these failures and possibly the most ultimate of all. Stops funding.
