no tdd at the second location

I have a tdd in my office and access to AOL's relay system. Once in a while my boss would ask me to help out others at another location. That other location is tddless. If asked again, shall I say , "No, I can't help out to guys, theres no tdd"? Or shall I go and say, " next time, please have a tdd ready for me". If they say, "forget it , don't come and help", wouldn't that be discrimination as well?
I'm still having problems convincing others to call me via Aol's relay to discuss things. They call the next cube worker to relay things cause the relay or third person is inconvenient to them. Isn't that discrimination as well?

you should talk to your employer AND your state's voc rehab office and find out about getting a portable TTY, There's no reason you can't take one with you.

What do you mean by AOL's relay system?

Agree with farmerjoe. Ask for a portable relay if they expect you to work from more than one location.

And what's up with calling another worker to relay information to you? That's still using a 3rd party. Some people just don't think.

You make it sound like you need something to type on when talking between co-workers. What's wrong with using a computer? Simply open up a new MS Word document with the font settings at size 20 and type away.

One of my advisors did that for me and other deaf people under him. He created a MS Word template pre-set with an easy-reading font at size 20. That shortcut sits on his desktop. Whenever a deaf student comes in to see him on a short notice, he simply double-clicks on that shortcut and types away. He even offers to save the document to send to that student via email and/or to print it out as well.

What's the phone number you use to dial relay on your TTY?

AIM offers free phone number just for you. One calls your number, "fire" pops up on screen while you're in the middle of something and awake for you to say hello. AOL offers relay through AIM. Free number! Can someone tell me how to make AIM pop up like that?

"it taaaakes tooooooooo longggggggg", they say or "I didn't understand that relay". I'm concerned that the relay are hiring zombies or work out of India. It's important that the relay speaks loud and clear rather than working in boredville

Hey!!!! hands off my computer. Perhaps he can answer my wifes relay and call her names for fun. My pc locks others out after a minute of inactivity.

You say "TDD" but TTY's don't access the internet. You're using the wrong terminology.

Fine. What's the screen name you say "call" to? What are you using to "call" this relay screen name? Is it a Sidekick? A laptop? A pager? WHAT?
