ice skating

Last winter, Feb, the teacher of my daughters gave me the nbr to contact the person who knows ASL, and teaches ice skating to children. I called her in next day, was asked for my email address she will email me, I assumed she might be busy. Ever Since she has never emailed me at all. Last other weekend I took my 2 daughters to mall they saw and liked it. I was about to fill out the registration, told the lady my younger daughter is deaf but will be OK, can understand body language (even I did't ask for an interpreter) she went to ask someone by kiosk, returned and said in writting they don't accept her but someone would contact me, again, asked for my email address. I got email from other lady, like blah that she has been in winter olimpic..., i was like cool but so? there is nbr in the end of this message. I called her, unfortunately,no answered. Since I have been calling her never answered, huh, was she BS that she was in winter olimpic I then left msg to email me(even left my email addy I knew she might have, she has emailed me, in case, she may lost my email) but never email nor call back! I looked on internet to find the manager of ice skating at that mall, found out it's the person I was calling the first person last FEB, it looks like they all avoid deaf children, huh? is it discrimination? I have been seeking on internet ADA rights, can they say THEY DONT ACCEPT HER (DEAFNESS) I think that's wrong to say that. DEAF CHILDREN DON'T SUPPOSE TO FEEL LIMIT GOING TO ANY EVENTS WHERE THEY LIKE TO GO/HAVE FUN BUT WERE TOLD NOT ACCEPT.

I am upset right now as my daughters just asked when we go ice skating? why not? what suppose to say

At the mall? is this a program or classes for children to learn how to ice skate?.. if so, they have no right to turn down any children or stopping them from attending...Sounds like discrimination to me since it's involves treating someone less or refusing a child because of their disability...

yea, there's classes to learn how to ice skate. I can read says over there for between age of 3 and 5 I was right to pick for my younger daughter of 3 yrs old. Guess what, I found out the person emailed me doesnt know ASL either it just doesn't make sense they dont accept my daughter to join that classes with hearing peers.

I got email from the manager this morning stupid question I have ever been asked CAN UR DAUGHTER READ LIPS? she is only 3 yrs old never practice or has no experiences reading lips. Her parent, me and her father, is deaf using ASL. I just forward all emails and complain form to ADA in DC, waiting to hear.

Oh dear!

Yes I'm agree that it sounds discrimination... I can't see any excuse for that...

It's really no hard to learn how to do with ice skating without use interpreter or whatever. My hearing teacher show me how to do with ice skating with body movement... It's really easy to learn... I love ice-skating... It's easy to show your daughter with body movement...

You need to go legal adviser to find out about the rights.

Good Luck

Why don't you straight it out to ADA and also get American Charter Rights.. show them. They'll get a fool for sure!
You'll win the case!
