Hello!

I am a first time homebuyer, and I would really really like to have a home security system. However, there don't seem to be any options for a home security system at a base price with a low installation cost.

What I would like are simply either a new strobe light or something that will connect to my existing strobe light and text message notifications in lieu of phone calls.

Somehow, every company I have talked to (and I have talked to many!) is either charging upwards of $500+ for installation or they want me to pay an additional fee/use a more enhanced service than the basic package to provide text messaging notification or strobe connections.

Any ideas on this one? I live in the Baltimore area.

I don't like home security systems. If you're deaf, You can't hear beep-beep sound from battery died inside security system box. When false alarm as mistake dial wrong password on touchpad for Arm/Disarm to send alert to Security agents will call you and They'll ask for a question: "What is your password for verification?" They use voice, never use TTY device. if no answer, agents will send police stop by your home. It's risky if they'll shoot you for mistake burglar.

I use my Logitech Alert security cameras and easy D-I-Y install at home. Motion detection alert send email to my iPhone 5 while I am away.

We've been thinking about a security system, possibly a DIY system. I have some questions. Does the Logitech system notify the police (for motion detected) or fire department (for smoke or fire)? Or is all the notification just and email to your phone? Once you get the email, then what happens? What about when you are at home, if you have a break in? I know that some DIY systems connect with live monitoring and some do not. I like the prices of DIY.

If you want to pay service monthly for home security system. They do monitor any fire, burglar, emergency health, etc.. They send police, firemen

Logitech is just security cameras for notice any burglar, suspect package theif front of door, etc .. No pay monthly on your own computer, motion detection, live stream on your smartphone and alert email and storage in desktop are free but, on internet do have cloud storage for upload video tapes just $79.99 a year. No support police and fire. just your own smartphone send images/video clips to report police.

The WiLife System was one the best purchases I have made. It was very easy to set up and the customer support was great.

After being robbed last October, I continued having a feeling that someone was entering the house without my knowledge. So I set up the video surveillance system to help figure out what was going on. Then on Wednesday April 8th, I had a strange feeling there was a problem at my house. I logged onto the live streaming feature and there was a man standing in my living room attempting to rob me again! I called 911 from 30 miles away and the police were at my home in literally 4 minutes. They had my whole house surrounded. The criminals did not get away with anything other than the cheese they ate from my refrigerator.

It was a very strange feeling watching my house being robbed and feeling helpless. But in the end, due to this system, they were unable to steal from me again and went straight to jail.

I would recommend this system to anyone who does not want to spend an arm and a leg trying to protect the things they have worked so hard for.

Thanks!

I don't constantly monitor my email when I'm away from home, so I'm afraid I'd miss a security message. Also, I don't see how the system helps in the case of a home invasion type break in or fire. Would the homeowner still have to make the emergency phone calls for help himself?

Is it a wifi system? What happens if your internet cable is cut off? Or is it satellite that doesn't use a cable? Are they battery operated or wired for electricity?

Sorry for all the questions. I like to ask a lot before spending money.

I guess that's why a "real" home security system is a small price to pay for a peace of mind

This home security system needs no batteries or installing and will keep working if you lose power.

We have two large dogs. :) Alert me for everything as someone knock the door, fire, etc. :D

My small dog Marty alert me when someone at the door I wish he would let me know when someone is outside of my condo . I loves big dogs , what kind do you have?

Next door neighbors from hell. They are anger if your dog keep barking is so annoying everyday. They will shoot your dog.

A watch dog does not have to bark. I have a friend that had a watch dog and that just what he did. The dog watch a guy try to climb in through a window and when the guy got one leg in the dog made his moved and bite the guy's leg. The dog did not bark to warn he was there , he laid still and waited . You can train a dog to bark when you want it to.

I don't have my own dog. They are scare of my high-tech witness from security cameras. They got owned as videorecording and easy report police.

I have used Dropcam for security cam. During my vacation week I got email alert from it on my iPhone last few days and noticed picture of my city police inside of my house, then called them what to happen. They said my patio door was opening. I forgot to close it before leaving. No steal and no thief. But i won't pay monthly for Dropcam DVR at $9.95/7-day recording each month or 30-day recording at $29.95.

When power was out last Wednesday and restore, I got email alert to notice pic of fan light on.

Logitech WiLife Digital Security Systems (old system) are not compatible with the new Logitech Alert Digital Security Systems. Logitech Alert 750i Master System Security Camera is too expensive. Not Mac compatible.

Same feature as live streaming in my iPhone and motion alert send email on dropcam.com But no recording.

I like Logitech Alert security system but cam is too costly. Cam w/ night vision cost $299 and w/o night vision $199. Dropcam cam is cheap cost at $150. I had won eBay bid to get new one at $122. I will get other one for my den office later.
