I had a difficult time getting gear for PvP in two games because it required me to find people to help me beat the bosses in the game for the gear that I needed to be competive vs other people. Oh, they'd have helped. I just hated to ask for help.

I know the feeling.
Sometimes, it's hard to know who to trust.
I have a friend who played WoW. He got very far in the game, but there were several quests that required the help of others... such as a team. So, he would try looking for people who were willing to join him on these quests. 1 out of 10 times, he would end up with at least 1 person who would back out suddenly and screw everyone over. Because of that, he would get very picky and do research before deciding who can join him.
