I seem to recall a case that supports what you say. I am referring to the case of
John List who wasn't a sociopath but he has a severe case of Obsessive compulsive personality disorder; such people tend to think in terms of black and white. He would have thought rape was criminal but because he thought that he was saving his wife and children from the Devil by killing them before their souls became damned, he felt perfectly justified in killing his whole family and so he feels no remorse for it.
