I, being a red-head try to go out doors only in early day or late evening because I blister really bad. Also with having red hair comes with the pail skin and the allergies, I can't even think about carrying a penny to pull out the venom or cool the bite, I have to carry what they call an "Anna Kit" with me at all times. It is a preloaded syringe in a red water-proof container that has strong medication in it to prevent anti-philactic shock. My entire respiratory system swells and shuts down and I get huge whelps and blisters all over my body plus I swell up all over. If I don't carry my Ann-kit it is the difference between dying from shock -OR- having a painful area where I got stung at then had to stick myself with a needle and be grouchy about it but living. I have also learned to keep some type of tiki lamp or outdoor torch or something that you light and has some smoke with it or carry one of those things that looks like a genie bottle that you make a little fire in that smokes a bunch. When you get around anything flying that stings it usually goes away from any type of smoke. That is how you get rid of any nests or hives or anything, you smoke it out and they leave for a little while and you can demolish the whole thing and leave before they get back.
