It has happened at RIT in several situations. One time, there was this student who was fired from her job. She did something that most of us would see as deserving a slap-on-the-wrist if we were good workers. But in her case, she got fired for it. She told everyone that she got fired for no good reason. What everyone didn't know was that she had a 8-month history of causing problems one after another. She was often late for meetings, reports, projects, programs, etc. She was also not around to do her job. She constantly blamed other people for her problems. Even though they were all minor, it kept building up more and more.

It's like a person holding a huge cup. That person can hold that cup with ease while others drop small pebbles into it. As the cup fills up, it becomes harder to hold... but not too much that the person can still hold on. Suddenly, someone drops a couple big rocks in it. What happens? That person loses his/her grip and drops the cup.

That's what happened in this situation... this person did a bunch of small stuff, but doing something big enough was going over the line.
