Going to your Dr would be the first step. There are meds that can be prescribed for IBS (if that is what you have). I also suffer from it. I don't really avoid anything, except spicey foods. I have the constipating variation of the disorder. There's also mixed where you have both, and of course, the " oh so lovely" diarrheal variety.

What *I* do is eat foods high in fiber and that helps regulate me. Some people also take a bulk forming laxative, which can help. There is also a medcation called Zelnorm that can be prescribed.

If you struggle with knowing what foods to eat/not eat, you may want to consider asking for a referral to a nutritionist who knows about intestinal disorders like lactose intolerance and IBS.
