Now, that is one comment that did seriously tick me off! What does she know about deaf schools?

Precisely! She's a dim bulb, that one. Because one should see the full picture of what happens if a school for the deaf were forced to close.
*More deaf students losing their safety zone
*Many demoralized kids because they're delayed and not getting the help they needed.
*Govt'd end up having to pay for their medical care if they ended up with many problems caused by isolation, delayed development, lack of access etc.
*Families moving out of state because of no school for the deaf or forcing the state government to fund their child's education out of the state.
Deaf schools, in some ways, has saved the sanity of many deaf students who went there after failed beginnings in mainstream setting And having access to teachers who can sign, and there's rise in students' personal confidence because there's socialisation, equal access etc.
Unfortunately, this woman reminds me of a mother with deaf child from deafread who's pushing many parents to implant their children, and she denies there's some cons to having CI despite factual evidence and proof. She works for CI industry in some way. Talk about biased big time!
