Although I am not a parent, I am the child of vegetarian parents and a vegetarian myself.
I was raised vegetarian and have only had meat a few times in my life, none at all that I can remember. I have turned out fine, if not healthier than some of my friends who are meat eaters. Not to say that that is just because of the vegetarian diet. I was also raised very health conciouse and with lots of physical activity. Raising your child with a vegetarian/vegan diet is no more of a health risk than raising your child as a meat eater. You simply need to install good health conciouse values, and remind of the importance of leading a healthy life with physical activity, and limited 'junk food'. This will make them much healther than eating meat or not eating meat.
