It depends on the location and time of year.
When I was in New York, I lived near two Wal*Mart locations. One was 4 miles away and the other was 5 miles away.
The one that was 4 miles away was the one most people went to and had excellent customer service. They had very diverse employees. They always made sure that they had enough lanes open and the customers had a lot of respect for each other. There would be an annoying customer from time to time. If the manager saw that the lines were getting longer, he would call up an employee from elsewhere in the store to open a lane for a while until things slow down. That's what I call good customer service.
The one that was 5 miles away was mostly black employees and customers. A lot of the employees didn't know what they were doing and the customers had attitude problems here and there. There was one cashier who was very nice. She actually learned a little sign language so that she could sign to the deaf customers. Other than that, the rest of the employees would either yell at each other, take off for breaks at the wrong time, leave a mess everywhere, etc. Traffic? Not really, but the way their employees ran things... there were always long lines. For instance, they only have like 3 or 4 lanes open for 30 people.
