i got it now, they wont look at your parents' income if the person is independent from the parents as in paying his or her own living fees. I'm just going to give my parents 2g and tell them to use it for whatever i need to take care of like phone bills and so on. i checked in with a respentative from SSI and they said it'd be okay in tht case. so it's all goood.

Hmm... giving money to your parents sounds like a good idea. Just hope you don't get audited.
There's a difference between state law and federal law.
I don't really know why it was done this way, but I think it's been done for almost 20 years.
Texas also has no state tax.
