The family with the deaf 2 year old I just met last week learned ASL in 2 years since finding out about their daughter's deafness. Now, their 2 year old's language development is way advanced for her age. She is so way ahead of my 2 year old son even though my son is hearing and gets 2 languages. It is apparent that this little girl is extremely bright but the point is she had access to ASL thanks to her parents even though their ASL skills are not like a fluent ASL user. If parents really want it, they can do it.

Remember I posted how my coworder told me about those parents of her former student who werent consistent with CS and their children ended up with language delays? Those same parents would probably do that with ASL anyway. Parents really need to put their children first instead of expecting their children meeting their communication needs.
