Other than that good part, I think his public psychology is a joke, like the hypocritical hype posted by Laura Schlessinger. Kelsey Grammer and David Pierce do much better jobs on Frasier where at least being know-it-all clowns is honest comedy.
Phil really shot himself in the foot by talking to the press about the Spears visit. No matter how he tries to spin it, it is unconscionable behavior for any therapist, health care worker, teacher, lawyer, pastor, etc.

Frasier presented accurate representation of theory. Laura Schlessinger never studied psychology or counseling. She is nothing more than a radio "Dear Abby", and a poor one at that. And Dr. Phil converys the message that there are "quick fixes" to some very complicated problems. That is a very dangerous message to give.
But, I have to admit to being rather fond of the the bald, mustachioed look! (Just not on him, particularly.)
