What about if you get into a car accident or if you need to ask the store clerk where something is located in the store, or if you are arrested. As I said, you options for face to face communication are limited. If deaf people didn't learn to speak, or are not literate in english I think there would be much difficluty in those types of situations. Your choices are to speak, sign or read and write. Please let me know if there are any other choices in a face to face situation with hearing and deaf.
