Bacterial meningitis...
So,
People who become deaf due to BM have a higher risk of getting it, and are more aware of that danger,
Parents of children with CI are also more alert, because there is a higher risk,
BM is very well treatable with medicine,
BM kills people that are too late with treatment since they are not aware it is BM,
When you are deaf, when you have a CI, the chance of dying from BM is a lot smaller compared to the rest of the world....

What's the problem again...???
How exactly is the risk of dying from bacterial meningitis (BM is bowel movement) lessened when you are deaf with a CI?
