That's the right way to do it. Go back to the home country, and apply the legal way. If I lived in their country and could help them apply legally, and I knew they were good people, then yes, I would help them.

Sometimes it's their fault, sometimes not. Sometimes it's the government's fault, or sometimes it's a technical reason. There are many good people who want to enter the USA but they are not allowed to for legal government reasons. But we can't just open up every gate and let everyone swarm in without checking who they are. That makes it too easy for terrorists, criminals, and disease carriers to walk in and cause trouble.
