Here in Germany no! German is stricter about traffic law.
We show our respect on traffic red signal and wait until green signal then walk cross... We will pay penalty fine if police caught us ignore red signal.
As what you said that hearing people disrespect red signal and just hear the train coming then escape... This is disrespectful and senseless... Children learn their bad examples which it's no good.
