I wasn't isolated, because I was always involved in something--youth sports, Girl Scouts (even Boy Scouts because of my brother), sleepovers with my hearing peers, camping, etc. Lunch period in high school was a different issue, because typically cliches show up and students went into their respective circles at lunch
I also had a job in high school, so that kept me in touch with the town folks. My parents were also involved with a lot of town stuff, so I was interacting with somebody.
